El Corre Caminos - Great Food

Guadalupe Valley is home to about ten different restaurant venues that offer a diverse selection of culinary delights. If you’re looking for a friendly, casual, comfortable, country-style cafe, I suggest Corre Caminos Restaurant. This family-orientated food establishment was opened in June of 1995 and has been a popular culinary destination ever since with local families as well as Baja aficionados. In fact, many Baja California off-road racing crews consider this the number two reason for visiting Mexico. For example, their pie is world-renown, often times almost requiring a chain saw to portion off the 10 inch thick pies of apple, cherry, chocolate, peach, date and cheese cake. Educated insiders and wine country explorers are aware that on every Thursday they offer freshly baked muffins and homemade breads, first come ~ first served. The varieties of bread are carrot, banana, and apple.
All ingredients are fresh, locally purchased or grown, and all entrees are prepared by artisan cooks every day. Their breakfast menu includes over thirty tasty options from hot cakes to omelettes de nopales o al gusto. Three categories of breakfast items are, Tradicionales, Especialidades, and Mexicanos. Popular morning meals such as Alfredo includes machca con huevo, quesadilla, 1/2 orden de chilquites y frijoles. Another popular treat with Mexicans is Milagro, two huevos, papa rallada, chorizo, tocino y frijoles. In addition, this family-focused venue offers a delightful and exciting children’s menu.
The lunch menu presents culinary lovers with over twenty delicious gastronomical delights to include. soups, salads, Platillos Mexicanos and Hamburguesas. The most popular lunch special with American guests is the Chiles Rellenos with two chiles rellenos,de queso, arroz y frijoles. Locals and “insiders” are addicted to their Tampiqueña, filete de res, two flautas, guacamole, papas fritas y frijoles or their renown Codorniz a la Planca, three codornices, papa al ho rno, ensalada y frijoles.
Corre Caminos or Rancho Toscano is a great place for families, friends, couples or individuals. They have a large playground located outside in view of the restaurant, ample parking in front and in back and offer country style hospitality. Portions of home cooked meals are large and priced very reasonably. They are open every day for breakfast and lunch only, from 8 am to 4 p.m weekdays and 8 am thru 5 p.m on weekends. They are closed on Wednesdays. Rancho Toscano is located at Km 93 on the Ensenada ~ Tecate highway, two miles east of San Antonio de las Minas. Please note that Sunday is a busy day at Corre Caminos as it is a family tradition to visit the wine country and dine on Sundays, thus it can be busy and congested at times. Next time you’re in the mood for country cooking in the wine country ambience, try a meal at Corre Caminos.
